GILBERT WATKINS
Gilbert Watkins, 66, of Jasper, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Parkridge Medical Center. Born on January 14, 1960, Gilbert was the beloved son of the late Mary Opal Watkins and Robert and Bobbie Watkins. He grew up in Chattanooga and attended Kirkman High School, where he formed friendships and memories that stayed with him throughout his life. Before retiring, Gilbert worked for many years at Acheson Foundry & Machine Works in Chattanooga. He was known for his steady work ethic, his reliability, and the quiet pride he took in a job well done.
Gilbert found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending peaceful hours fishing, and he could often be found wandering the aisles of local flea markets, enjoying the hunt for hidden treasures and the conversations with folks he met along the way. His easygoing nature and gentle spirit made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his father, Robert Watkins; mothers, Opal Cartwright Watkins and Bobbie Watkins.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Joseph) Willingham; granddaughter, Reagan (Bryson) Pollock; great grandson, Waylon Pollock; several cousins and friends. He was also loved by special family members, James and Norma Rednowers, who were an integral part of his life.
In honor of Gilbert’s wishes there will be no formal service.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tennessee 37347, 423-942-9500.
